Proročanstvo

The Prediction

The Prediction : 03.10. // 17,00

in collaboration with: Fatima Tomičić

„Although there are a lot of diverse plans how to develop the city of Zagreb towards the River Sava, nothing really happened in the recent past due to lack of investments. This is a great chance to raise public consciousness on the future use of the area.

There is a lack of transparency about the decisions to be taken in the future. Will the area be dominated by the interests of private investors, or is there a unique opportunity to protect a free space for a future use as a green area? Therefore we would like to commission a fortune teller, to look into the future and inform the public about the coming developments. In respect for the Roma culture we would like to open up a different perspective on urban development, which is usually discussed only from a rational western and power determined perspective.“ (RG)

The Cow Demonstration : 1.10. // 11,00 (the demonstration will go on throughout the festival)

in collaboration with: Zelena akcija and Zvonko Bedeković

Due to RG’s intervention, a herd of cows is peacefully grazing on the Sava’s banks as usual. However, they are quietly protesting and warning the citizens and the governing structures about the right to use public spaces. As a reaction to the privatization of public spaces and the legislation regulations which work in favour of mass capital, such as the controversial law on golf courses, the cow demonstration is an attempt to adopt a critical stance towards the natural environment and human activity. The banks of the Sava are conceived as an untouched and undeveloped area with a lot of potential, and the question of their actualization is the question of the line between the private and the public, the line between power, interest and the right of users of different stances.

Reinigungsgesellschaft was founded by Martin Keil and Henrik Mayer as a group of artists and their associates who create platforms for interdisciplinary activities: “The way we work is based on the positive potential of bringing together different social spheres.” RG is an initiator of projects which create new relationships between people by working at the intersection of art and social reality. Since 1999 they have been exhibiting and working on projects in Germany and abroad. Recent manifestations and exhibitions they took part in include: “Gemeinsam in die Zukunft”, Frankfurter Kunstverein, “Work Now”, Z33 centre for contemporary art, Hasselt, Belgium, “Urgent urban ambulance”, Projektraum Deutscher Künstlerbund Berlin, “Bureau for open culture”, Agency For Small Claims, Columbus College of Art & Design, “Subjective Events, Sometimes Recorded”, Art Laboratory, Berlin, “Mediations Biennale”, Poznan, Poland, “About the city” video_dumbo, New York, USA, “Be A Happy Worker: Work-To-Rule!” Miroslav Kraljević Gallery, Zagreb, “The Social Engine”, ACC Galerie Weimar and Studio of Young Artists Budapest.
